Who We Are

Limelight Performing Arts is a vibrant, family-focused music studio offering top-tier private piano and voice lessons right in Beaverton’s Triple Creek neighborhood. We blend expert instruction with a warm, encouraging environment where students of all ages and abilities can build real musical skills, boost their confidence, and discover a lifelong love for music.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Every musician brings their own spark, whether they are sitting at the piano for the first time or finding their voice on stage. We meet students exactly where they are and tailor each lesson to match their unique personality, learning style, and musical goals.

By pairing passionate, expert instruction with modern learning tools and interactive apps, we keep music engaging and relevant for today's kids. From classic techniques to current pop hits and theater favorites, our goal is to build confidence, foster personal growth, and make learning music something your child looks forward to every single week.

  • Piano Lessons
    Piano Lessons

    Scheduled once a week from September through mid-June similar to most school schedules. A flexible Six Week Summer Session is available to help keep skills sharp from one season to the next.

    In addition, Performance Opportunities and Studio Recitals are offered throughout the year. Generally, younger students and beginners start with 30 minute lessons and intermediate and older students with 45 minutes while advanced students and adults can benefit from a 60 minute session. All students should be prepared to put in practice time each week outside of their scheduled lesson. Playing music is fun but the only way to learn and improve is to practice!

  • Vocal Lessons
    Vocal Lessons & Coaching

    Learn to sing the songs you love safely and confidently. We teach core techniques that build breath control, increase range, and protect voices from strain and damage.

     Learn to sing in the following styles:

    • BROADWAY: Master dramatic storytelling, belt power, and stage presence.
    • POP: Sing current radio hits with great tone and microphone control.
    • JAZZ: Explore rhythm, improvisation, and smooth vocal styling.


    Coaching can help refine technique in preparation for an upcoming audition, stage role or special event performance. Boost your confidence and learn how to communicate effectively to an accompanist to elicit their best performance at your audition!

    *Fun Fact: The same breathing techniques used for singing can also be applied to public speaking for business meetings, church readings and wedding speeches!

  • Music Theory
    Music Theory

    The secret code behind every song we love to sing or play is what's known as Music Theory. While making music by ear is great, understanding how music actually works gives musicians the confidence to read sheet music faster, improvise freely, and collaborate with other music lovers.

    We seamlessly weave interactive, friendly theory games directly into our piano and voice lessons. For students who want to write their own songs, dive deeper into song structure, or prepare for advanced performance, we also offer dedicated theory sessions designed to make the mechanics of music clear, modern, and fun.

 

About Limelight

Instruction by Suzanne Messinger

Suzanne’s musical journey started at age six with 12 years of classical piano, followed by another 12 years of classical vocal training. She refined her craft studying under Northwest music legend Dale Beacock at Clark College and San Francisco Opera’s Carolyn Ternahan. After four years touring the West Coast as a professional vocalist and keyboardist, she spent 14 years teaching music in both the public and private education sectors as well as owning her own private music studio.

A true theater veteran, Suzanne has mastered every angle of live performance—serving as an actor, director, producer, conductor, and stage manager across more than 30 productions. She also served as Founding Member, President, and Artistic Director of Encore Performing Arts Theater in the Columbia River Gorge.

Today, Suzanne brings decades of real-world stage and studio experience to the next generation of performers, combining timeless fundamentals with modern coaching techniques. For her, nothing beats watching a studying artist put in the work and experience that unforgettable "Limelight" moment when everything clicks and they realize, “I did it!”

Our studio is located in the Triple Creek Neighborhood of North Beaverton, Oregon.
We serve the West and Southwest Portland areas including Oak Hills, Orenco, Bethany, Cedar Hills, Cedar Mill, Aloha, Rock Creek, North Plains and surrounding areas.

Limelight Performing Arts 2026-27 School Year Rates

All students take weekly private lessons. Performance classes and recitals are also part of our curriculum.

Generally, younger students and beginners start with 30 minute lessons, intermediate and older students with 45 minutes while advanced students and adults usually benefit from a 60 minute lesson.

Lesson fees are structured as monthly rates and take into account those months with holidays as well as those with an additional week. Monthly statements will be provided at the beginning of every month and will include any books or materials that are purchased by Limelight for your child. Fees are due at the first lesson of each month at the following rates:
